National Scrapbook Day 2009

Did you know that today, May 2nd is National Scrapbook Day? It was started in 1994 by Creative Memories, it is celebrated on the first Saturday in May, today!

Yeah!!! It's a day for all of us scrappers to celebrate our love of scrapbooking. What fun to have a special day to do a thing I enjoy so-ooo much :)

Do you have plans to celebrate National Scrapbook Day today and what might you be doing? Well, scrapbooking I would expect, but how do you scrapbook? Do you get out your albums, punches and brads and get to work? Maybe you just hate the mess and the thought of having to clean up is even more distasteful! If only there was a solution...a personal scrapbooking maid perhaps, LOL.Well a few years ago I discovered a solution to this dilemma of wanting to scrapbook, longing to create those precious memory pages but being hesitant to pull the equipment out.

Have you heard the buzz about something called Digital Scrapbooking? Can I tell you a secret? The mess, fuss and cost of my hobby are huge considerations each time I get an urge to create memory books. Well I've found a great solution to the mess, fuss and cost issues by doing it digitally!!! What that means is I use a software program, digital images and a few digital kits or and my own creativity to create my memory pages. OMG, no more mess...not only that but it is so easy to stop and start a specific project! One drawback I have discovered is that it is a highly addictive hobby. There are online communties of others that share this addiction. I discovered that I could join a virtual crop, that's right, there are virtual crops all over the online community!

Here are a few of my favorite online communities...

Well I'm off now to visit some of my favorite scrap hangouts and get involved in some of the celebrating. Watch for some of my pages :)

Oh So-oooo Clever

Don't you just love clever ideas? I do and I bet you do too! Well I really must share a super clever idea I came across called a Purse Clip. had seen these promoted at a local expo and thought they were very clever but a bit pricey. What I have discovered since then is that the prices vary dramatically depending on company, how much personalization and such. My favorite one is by Heidi Swapp. She is well known for the fine products she produces for scrapbookers.
I like the fact that the Purse Clip takes up very little space when not being used and it is priced very reasonably as well!

Heidi has a Youtube video prepared to show us just how clever this little devise is. After clicking the link in my blog title, scroll down on the page to watch the video... and don't forget to come back and see me ;)

Easter Blessings

Thinking about Easter and the great gift God gave us truely overwhelms me. I am so thankful to be the recipient of the gift of eternal life.

I am reminded of a poem I read long ago and would like to share it with you.

Do you love me Lord I cried?

"This much", he said, and opened wide

His arms upon the cross...and died for me.

Thank You Jesus, I am eternally grateful.

My Birthday

Today is my birthday...yup, St. Patricks Day is my birthday. I have been so blessed to enjoy phone calls and Facebook posts and birthday cards from all my wonderful friends and family...Thank you all, it means the world to me! Did I celebrate in a traditional way drinking some "green" concoction, wearing fun and crazy clothes, partying at the pub or such stuff I'm sure you're wondering?? Naaaaw! I am so excited because I received a new computer for my birthday. Want to see what I picked?? We spent the day setting it up, transfering all my data and watching that blue bar predict haw l0---ng it would be before my data was safe and sound in it's new home!!Eeek...! So-ooo most of the work is done, wish me the "Luck of the Irish" on the rest!

My youngest is married!

March 7th my youngest son married to a terrific young lady! Last year at the end of February we received thier announcement card and I almost fainted because I misread the announcement and thought they were getting married March 2008. Whew! In reality we had a full year to plan and of course even at that, it just flew by! The wedding was held in Lake Tahoe, Nevada on a chilly March day in a lovely mountain setting.

Happy Valentines Day!!!

Several weeks ago my DH and I went to "couples night out". Our group watched a movie called "Fireproof". It is a wonderful movie aimed at showing how one couples relationship which was on the brink of disaster, turned around because of "the love dare". My husband commented that it really challenged him to treat our relationship with a renewed eye on what our spouse needs...not just what our personal want or desire in our relationship is.

So-ooooo today was a way of showing this concept in action...My dear sweet husband planned a really terrific day for us. We enjoyed a leisurely morning around the house before heading into Salt Lake for some breakfast at Mimi's. We enjoyed two of our favorite things, French Toast and an Omelet...mmmm-mmm. Then we headed out for some serious shopping...what can I say, I have such an amazing hunny! First stop was at Taipan Traders. I love that store!!! We found an adorable bunny Easter Basket that ended up jumping into our cart, along with a cute carrot (because the bunny needs to eat, ha-ha) and a few other home items. Then we were on to Ashley Furniture, then Orson Gygi... OMG that store is amazing. Our last stop was probably best of all for sweet hubby...Home Depot. All in all a fun day, thanks sweetheart :)

A BIT OF LEARNING NEVER HURT

A bit of learning never hurt anyone, and in fact I found it quite rewarding. I am teaching myself Photoshop...or should I say that I have these amazing internet teachers who have so graciously created some amazing tutorials and podcasts.

I really must say Thank You! Thank You! Here is my page in progress, a lesson in how to create a realistic folded corner. my instructor was Misty Cato and I followed along with her and learned I must say... it turned out quite well :) Here is the work in progress... I'll update this as I make changes to the page.
